The Crackling Craze: Coffee & Matcha Get a Chocolatey Twist!

Have you been scrolling through TikTok lately and come across the mesmerizing "crackling coffee" trend? This viral drink involves a chocolate-coated cup that cracks satisfyingly when you pour your beverage in. It's all about the fun and the surprise, but let's be honest – it also looks pretty darn delicious! Well, I decided to take this trend a step further and create a crackling coffee AND matcha version that's perfect for any coffee or tea lover.





The Magic of the Crackle:

The key to achieving the satisfying crackle is the chocolate coating on the cup. Here's what I used:

  • Melting chocolate (dark, milk, or white – depending on your preference)

  • Plastic cups (perfect for individual servings and easy cleanup!)

  • Optional: Coconut oil (a small amount can help thin out the chocolate, but it's not essential)


My Secret Weapon: The Melting Pot

If you're a fan of melted chocolate for baking or creating fun treats, then you NEED to check out the Wilton Candy Melts Candy And Chocolate Melting Pot. This little gadget has been a game-changer for me! It melts chocolate evenly and keeps it warm, making dipping and decorating a breeze.


Coffee with a Chocolatey Crunch:

For the classic coffee version, I simply melted some dark chocolate (with a touch of coconut oil for thinning) and coated the inside of a plastic cup. I placed the cup in the freezer for about 15 minutes. Once the chocolate hardened, I poured in a mixture of iced coffee (of course I used my favorite Everyday Dose and Chocolate Collagen Peptides) and chocolate milk.The crackling sound as the cup cracked open was pure fun, and the combination of chocolate and coffee was a delightful surprise.


Matcha Magic in White Chocolate:

For the matcha lovers out there, I created a white chocolate matcha latte version. I melted white chocolate and coated a separate plastic cup. Once chilled, I filled it with a mixture of whisked matcha and cold almond milk. The white chocolate complemented the matcha beautifully, and the crackle added another layer of enjoyment.


A Fun Twist for the Kids:

My kids loved this recipe, especially the coffee version with chocolate milk. It's a fun way to add a little excitement to their afternoon snack.
